Summary of the article:
In Namibia there are eleven different ethnic groups, therefore it is not possible to single out some food above others. A few of the main dishes are: Potjie Kos,Boerewors, Biltong, Mopane worms, Kapana, Mielie pap (maize meal),Tripe (Afval), Game, Pluck (Harslag). These foods show the best of the different ethnicities. Many of these dishes take hours to prepare, and they also hold complications depending on weather, and wether or not the supplies are avaliable to the maker of the dish. Many dishes do contain dried meat, and several herbs and spices.
My reaction:
In Namibia it seems difficult to keep all of the sacred dishes in the spotlight due to the fact that there are 11 different ethnicity groups. All of the food has hours of preperation, and cooking time that goes into it. The dishes are full of dried meat wich is one of Namibia's biggest staples. Namibia seems to have great diversity when it comes to all of the food that they offer.
Relationship to culture:
Food is a huge part of culture. Food can paint a picture of a culture. This article relates to culture because the preperation of food, what food it is, as well as how it is consumed directly relates to culture. This is because it has to do with the ethnicity that is making the food.
